A warm welcome to Cosmopolitan Lodge

On behalf of the members of Cosmopolitan Lodge I would like to welcome you to this website which is purely dedicated to our Lodge within the Province of Warwickshire.

Most Lodges are formed with a common theme, ours does not. It did around a century ago as you will see within the History of the Lodge.

Today, our common theme is to enjoy each other’s company both within the Lodge Meeting and at the dinner which always follows. Happiness is very important to us together with our commitment to Charity, both Masonic and Non-Masonic.

Each year the Lodge holds a very special evening where interested Non-Masons can attend and join us within the Lodge Room where the members have gathered dressed in our regalia. A Senior Officer from the Province of Warwickshire will also be present; he will give a short talk on Freemasonry. Once the meeting has ended, we all adjourn to a dining room to enjoy a good dinner and each other’s company.

This is an informal “getting to know you” occasion.

Cosmopolitan Lodge is always keen to recruit qualifying new members.

If you would like more information about Cosmopolitan Lodge or Freemasonry in general, please contact me or the Lodge Secretary here.

The members of Cosmopolitan Lodge hope that you find our site interesting, and we look forward to greeting you very soon.

W. Bro. Chris Knowles, Worshipful Master of Cosmopolitan Lodge 2017-18

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest secular fraternal societies. Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values.

Its members are taught its precepts (moral lessons and self-knowledge) by a series of ritual dramas which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons’ customs and tools as allegorical guides.

Freemasonry instils in its members a moral and ethical approach to life: it seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, kindness in the community, honesty in business, courtesy in society and fairness in all things.

Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but, importantly, Freemasonry also teaches and practices concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.

The 3 Great Principles

Freemasons follow three great principles:

Brotherly Love

Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding to his fellow creatures.

Relief

Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care - not only for their own - but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.

Truth

Freemasons strive for truth, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives. Freemasons believe that these principles represent a way of achieving higher standards in life.
